Engineers at Ford have equipped a 2011 Fiesta, named AJ The Ford Fiesta, with full time internet connectivity. AJ will report things like a driver tapping the brakes frequently - a sign that the driver is in stop and go traffic, or the windshield wipers are on - indicating rain, or anything else that the standard on-board computer might monitor about the vehicle and its usage.
While it may seem like a good idea, I certainly would not want the whole world of Twitter to know that I'm in my car, say driving out of state for the weekend, or stuck in rush hour traffic, or even across town at the moment. Can you say "Too Much Information!"?
If this can be modified to alert the owner of potential problems or scheduled maintenance then I can begin to see some good. However, there are already tools in place for these items, and if they aren't being utilized what in the world makes me want to believe this newest engineering feat will fare any better?
Maybe the only really good thing would be the constant GPS location in the event the car is stolen or lost in a vast parking lot. But even there its only good for the dumbest crook who can't figure out how to disable the wireless signal.
For this we need more IP addresses?
