The creator of THIS [images2.fotki.com] Gizmo has given it a specific name.

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to 1) provide the exact name, and 2) tell us its intended purpose.

I'm afraid clues will be few and far between since they might tend to lead you in the wrong direction rather than help you.

BTW, it is NOT a pipe of any sort.

thanks for this gizmo lawman..those object sure look very intenresting.. ilike this art..i wonder if ancient people were making things like thistoo with no real meaning and now our scientist are scratching their head when they find thignsl ike this..imagine 500 years from now if they find things like this..what will they think of this?

Did this object actually exist in ancient times.
Did it have a purpose or is it simply a work of

Do we yet have the full answer, or just an artists

When I posted the artist's statement for his objects d'art, I did not expect to win; I didn't see your question "Now, what is the intended purpose of the Ancient Medical Device?" until after I posted as I was wandering around looking at the other various gizmos.

BTW, I delayed this for Mivox. Oh Mivox . . .

Much obliged for the delay. However, it against my belief system to use an alarm clock on weekends. My body apparently decided 8am was far too early to let me get out of bed. ;)

That was something else though, lawman. How in the heck did you first find it?

Typed search string in the G searchbar that included the word "Gizmo" in it, saw something that said "Ancient Medical Device", clicked on it, liked it, and voila. I felt like we needed something other than electronics. It intrigued me, looked like a gizmo, and was on a site that had art dedicated to fictitious gizmos. Took me about 30 seconds to find it, and 4 or 5 minutes to decide if it would be worthy of the Gizmo Quiz. I gave fair warning in my preliminary announcement.

I was hoping it would be successful. Seems like it was well received.
