The 2008 European Football Championship finals started a week ago. No British teams this time, but lots of players that play in English or Scottish competitions.

Surely there must be other WW members who watch Euro 2008? Who's your favourite? I'm in .nl, and we sure cannot complain about our national team's performance so far :)

I think Holland have been playing really well and I also look the like of Spain & Portugal.

I done a correct score sheet and I have got most of the scores totaly wrong.

I haven't been watching as there is no home team in the competition. I might watch the final, however.

Glad to hear Holland have done well!

The Guardian tried to convince us to support the Dutch, over here in the UK though it is almost as if the championship isn't happening. The poor BBC and ITV having to try to appear excited about it all!

Not too sad personally though, am more a club supporter than international, and it also means at work we are less hit in our numbers than we would have been had the UK qualify.

Yeah Spain looks good too. But right now Turkish folks down my street are celebrating their impressive comeback against the Czechs: down 0-2, win 3-2.

You know I was going to have a bet on Russia as outsiders but I didn't do it. After their first couple of games I thought I had made the right decision.

Now?

I'm enjoying it more with no British interest in the competition. Less hype and more enjoyment of the football itself. Spain will go out to Italy, Holland look too strong for Russia, Germans will beat Portugal on penalties and I think Croatia will go on to the final and possibly win it.

I think Spain or Holland will win.

I just don't want Portugal to win. Nothing against the country there is just pretty famous mama's boy in it I can't stand.

The games are on so ridiculously late over here, but at least from now on they are all pretty good games.

I just do not understand why the weekend games are on so late. It is not that hot in Europe right now and there must be many more TV viewers in the Middle East and Asia than in the US.

Allez la France !

Oups ! We are out... Already ?

France - Italia : the referee really killed the match with its red card.

Thailand is right, games are bit late though...

My best wish: Turkey win and get a seat into the UE. lol:)

Quite a tragedy [news.bbc.co.uk] today in the Dutch camp, as Boulahrouz and his wife loose their prematurely born daughter. Latest news is that he does want to play on Saturday.

Anyway, the line-up for the quarter finals shows teams that have shown some great football in the first round (well, all but Germany, IMHO). Should be interesting matches: Portugal-Germany, Croatia-Turkey, Holland-Russia, and Spain v. Italy.

re: Portugal-Germany

Half time right now but wow I did not see Germany getting two goals in five minutes! That's football eh :)

Very fun to watch.

Germany were very efficient in the bits I saw. I can't see Italy beating Spain so it looks like it will be a Germany v Spain/Holland final.

The Spain / Holland match should be a good one to watch, if it does turn out that way.

Well I though Holland would get through, and Croatia so all my predictions thus far have turned bad!

Wonder if this means Italy will actually beat Spain, as I was thinking it would be a Spain v Germany final.

Or could Turkey really upset the big teams and go all the way?!

Don't rule out the Italians until their bus has left the stadium... They are real tournament survivors.

Clockwork Orange stopped running. The good thing about the defeat is that we won't be seeing all those orange-clad morons for a while. Didn't hear them when the team needed their support. Btw, Mr Hiddink, dear Guus, if you're reading this: hand in your passport, you traitor!

I hope they have a better bus driver than the French team:

well turkey were my tongue in cheek prediction, and they are running close now - trouble is they now have so many players suspended for the semi final that i think they will be pushed to beat germany.

Germany did it again: play bad and win in the last minute. I sure hope Spain beats them in the final!

The german team had better potential than the turkish team, the better players. Turkeys only chance was that Germany played bad. Germany did play bad, but the turkish team did not use this opportunity. The german team used the few chances they had efficently so they deserved to win. The major difference to other German teams in the past is how the three goals where scored. Usually it was: playing bad - winning through set piece situations. This time it was playing bad - but winning through three nicely set up goals.

I think Germany will beat Russia on Sunday.

So much for "lets go", but then again it was raining cats and dogs....

Russian Team had a very good EuroCup.

As a countryman abroad I am very proud of their achievements this time around.

We will see in 2 years, there will be the chance to take over the world again!
