HUH? i have never seen wedding ring on middle finger! if i start to count from leftthen it is second finger, if i start to count from right it is forth finger. it cant be middle finger!at least i have never seen it. can someone explain to me? i simply cant belvie it english lanugage would allow such a stupidity. i msut have misundertood something.
another question: do male and female wear ring finger on the same (that is left) hand or does female have it on right hand and male on left or vice versa?i belive both have it on left finger.
any info appreciated :)
What may have you confused is that we designate the first digit as a "thumb", and therefore the third finger is the one between the "little finger" and the long "middle finger". That is, the third finger from the right on the left hand. In the U.S. both males and females wear a ring on the left hand to designate "married" - not sure about other countries.
Jim
so in usa thumb is not counted as a a finger? so in usa people have 16 fingers, 2 toes and 2 thumbs? that sound a little funny to me. in my country we have special names for thumb (but not for toe) too but thumb is still counted as a finger.
The wedding ring thing is mainly just tradition, not a hard and fast rule. I have a friend who wears a neacklace instead of a ring because she doesn't like things on her fingers. But at the same time if there is no ring on the appropriate finger people tend to assume you're still single. So it's a matter of whether you care what other people think or not.
