Okay, so I just bought a new pair ($450.00US excluding exam). Anti-glare, anti-UV, flex-frame, ultra-light lenses – all the bells and whistles. So my very nice (and attractive ;) ) optometrist gives me this fancy glass cleaning kit with special cleaner solution and a soft, lint free cloth. I’m in the living room – it’s in the kitchen. Do I get up – NO. Use shirt – Yes. SCRATCH NEW LENS – Yeap. Learn from experience - Nope!
So how many of you are guilty of the “Shirt and Scratch”?

I am fortunate enough not to need prescription glasses yet but I would have thought that they could make them scratch resistant at that price? Weren't they once made from glass? ;)
BTW my wife had just ordered a pair from her optician at £300 ($600 USD).
The shirt thingy is inevitable, just ruined a pair last week. Grrrrrrrrr.
Flex Frames are the best, they are costly, but in case of emergency I am up and running in a couple of hours, since the Lens-Crafters are 2 blocks away and they know me by first name. Can’t hang with contact lenses though.
Lost many a good glasses because I decided to use soap instead of the specialty spritz product :)
just had lasik about 2 months ago and i couldnt be happier with the results. Especially after going through 4 pairs of $300 glasses in the past year.
how come more of you do not do Lasik? Is reasonably priced now and very high success rates.
The biggest problem I found when getting my current pair was finding one with reasonably large lenses in a style I like. At least where I am the fashion seems to be for very small lenses, which I find uncomfortable.

Hmm, what would be a non-success here?
