I have a video card that has a normal moniter plug and a mother board that has it. The video card also has an S-video output. If I need to, I can use another moniter, but it might be hard to get one. My TV is in the perfect place and I have an S-video cord. I also have xp(for using the dual view built-in program).
If I could, could I use the same Dual View program to use S-Video as a second moniter? I need to use it for a program add-on I have. I'd like to try it.

I have been using this setup for some years and just added another Card to go Triple Monitors. Again no problems, all simple and intuitive to configure just right click on desktop, Choose Properties then Settings and follow your nose.
For most, this will, mean adding an old fashioned PCI card to work alongside an AGP or the new PCIe. Bill got this right if not much else.
Good luck and if you get it setup OK the gains are well worth it. I have one screen with Dreamweaver Design View, another screen with Code View and a third screen with either Client Copy Input or sometimes external CSS.
The overal best solution - if you're going to spring for a second card which will hog up a whole PCI/AGP slot, look at the price of a dual head card. They're generally only 25-50% more than a good single monitor card, often have shared video RAM resources, and of course will always work with two monitors. You can off the old one on eBay or upgrade someone else's system with it.
That being said, I love my NVidia GeForce FX 5200 dual head card, of course NVidia has better dualies out now.
**IMO Please avoid ATI cards.** You may be able to drop one in without a hitch, but if it does't work right at startup you'll be sitting there for days rebooting and hoping.
Dual monitors is quite common for people who want to work more productively.
I have to give respect to an occasional visitor to one of my sites that has 5120 * 1024 as their desktop! (4 * 1280*1024). Also there is a 3200*1200 (2 * 1600*1200).
If you do a lot of spreadsheet work and can't squeeze 2 monitors onto your desk then think about widescreen.
