I've been given a HUGE project that was started in Director. It is an educational CD-rom that is designed for college students. Part of it plays music while a cursor moves along the score (the lingo scripting that has been done to accomplish this is beyond complicated). It also has tutorials and quizes. I will need to keep track of test scores, user names and such so that each time the student starts the program it remembers who they are,what they have done, and how smart they are. I am experienced in using Flash but not Director. So what are some suggestions - move it all to Flash. Keep it in Director and learn Lingo and try to remember javaScript? Is Director being phased out?

This project must be completed by mid-August.

As a general rule of thumb I use Director for CDRom and kiosks , and Flash for web ...

I doubt you will be able to pick up lingo in the time frame you have, although Director itself is not so complicated.. chances are that the lingo you are reading has been generated by Director anyway..

I would suggest that you stick with Director and outsource the problem to someone else, what you are asking is fairly simple to someone familiar with the product and will save you time and money in the end..

I had exactly the same problem with a new project I faced at work- was a large presentation for a client pitching a new product. I started off looking at Director, but ended up going back to Flash (which I have a bit of experience with) and although I had to adjust my mindset a little (bit of a difference making a CD rom presentation to making a 468 flash banner) I'm glad I stuck with what I'm familiar with. I also found Flash to be a better supported resource (net tutes etc) than Director.
