Converting animation done in Sony product to Flash

Can it be done or will I have to recreate it?

I just got to do a website redesign for a local low budget tv show. They have a new logo that's animated in a Sony product (I think it might be Imageworks, but I don't want to bother them again to ask).

Has anyone ever had any experience with this? Is there a way of converting or saving as a .fla file or will I have to reproduce the logo in Flash?

you probably need the product it was made in in order to export it to another format.

have you tried searching the net for free conversion utilities that contain the extension for the file you have?

The folks at the tv show don't seem too concerned with it. They've given me a .jpg which I can use for now and in September we'll be able to see the animated image on their show once the new season starts. Then, recreate it from scratch in Flash.

If it's Sony Imageworks, the only conversion program I can find is one that costs $169. I'll just make the logo from scratch in Flash unless anyone knows of a free conversion software. Unfortunatly I don't know the file type it's currently in, just that it's by Sony.

you should ask them if they can convert the logo into another format. Ie QuickTime Mov or a mpg file or something. Once you have it in a "standard" you could use Sorenson Squeeze or a comparable program to convert it.

Yes, that's a good idea. The contact person I have doesn't seem too motivated to look into it though. I'll give it a few days and then ask him to check into converting it.
