I wonder how compatible various Flash players are.
For instance, I want to create some rather basic flash applications that most surfers will be able to access, even if they have a little dated players installed.
I don't want to force visitors to upgrade to "the latest" even if its free.
I'll create my content using the latest "Pro 8" version writing some actionscripts.
So, what are the issues to consider for backwards compatibility?
I know that Flash is very widely accepted (according to adobe's recent survey, about 98% worldwide!?). But at least I had some minor problems when downloading the most recent player.

Export in an older version and see what Flash allows you to keep or not. You'll get a warning message if a feature is not supported in an older version of Flash.
No need to go further back than Flash Player 6. Flash 7 has been with us since summer 2003. I think it's good enough for backward compatibility issues.
