Tracking clicks but not clickthroughs in flash module

I've been out of Flash development for years now, but I think this is possible, but just havent found the right resource:

A flash module on the site has 5 sections. When the user clicks on one section they see a zoom of that section with a description. They may click through to new page, they may not.

We can track if someone clicked through to a page from the flash module, but done know if they clicked on 3 sections of it first before they clicked through to a page, OR if they clicked on any sections and didnt click through at all.

Is it possible to track this?

yes but i would guess you would need to send a call to a seperate page via PHP or something everytime a button is clicked then track the page stats from that page

Traditionally flash does not record navigation within the swf

It sounds like every time you want to track a click in flash you have to redirect it to another page and pick up the logs from there. I wonder if there is a destination url that can be picked up? That way you can track the next page and CTR. Is anyone implementing it this way?
