Although I've had a webpage for some time I never was interested in adding Flash to it until recently. I came across a template (which I purchased) that I want to use on my website. The purchased download includes the .html file, the .swf file, and a .fla file. I also purchased flash-type software called Namo FreeMotion 2006 because I can't afford the Macromedia/Adobe original. I've played with the software a little and have learned just enough to be real confused. My primary question is how do I change the generic names used on the template to the text I want for my website? Do I edit the "layer" containing the text on the timeline or do I edit it in the .fla file? And how do you open the .fla file if I need to edit it there? Thanks.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld,

any and all editing you need to do will be in the.fla.

While an avid flash user I think you should look at some tutorials on flash and how to edit buttons and other objects and elements within.

I'm sure you can find a copy of flash on one of those... what do you call'em - sharing thingy's

Also, consider that it should be used sparingly - if your site is constructed entirely in flash (and I'm sure I'm opening the age old can of worms here) then the SE's can't index the content.

I use flash for spice and leave the content in html for the spider's to find.
