does firefox have a limit to how many flash elements can be on the screen at once?

i have 19 flash buttons to preview my music, i can only put 15 or else firefox wont let them play.

all 19 work fine in ie.

is there anything i can do?

Why not put one flash file with an actionsripted button to choose from a list? There are also a few ready made flash music players out there which will hadle playlists...

i had already thought of that, but then i would have to re-design my page, it would conflict with the whole style and layout.

i put a "cant preview?" link around these flash buttons. then a popup explaining Firefox's issue with flash.

i guess thats the best i can do instead of re-designing the whole site.

What your doing is making the page hugely big for no reason and there are good practical reasons not to do that.

1) its costing you money in bandwidth usage in inefficient design and coding.
2) its potentially costing you search engine rankings 50k of the page etc etc.....
3) its almost certainly costing you traffic in waiting for 19 flash files to download.

Basically I appreciate you may need to redesign your page but its probably the correct solution.

Perhaps you have the buttons as static images, which when clicked (or even on mouseover) use javascript to insert the flash movie. That way they only load once needed?

Yes, but it would also make your site usable. What's more important to you, having a pretty layout or having people use your site?

a popup explaining Firefox's issue with flash.

So, I'll be blunt and a little sarcastic. :) Your Firefox users are going to love that you blame the browser they choose to use when they have trouble using your site. They'll back out so fast, they wouldn't have even had time to load the last 18 of your flash movies.
