Adding Flash movie to site

I have recently been appointed website manager for my employer's site. There are a few movies the former developers created using Mac. Flash. My employer may wish to add more movies (including audio) to the site, as new pages are created. As I do not have the Flash software, nor does the boss want to spend the money on the software, we may contract-out the creation of the new movies. Is it possible for me to receive the .fla and .swf files from the one who creates them, enter the code into the source of the page, and upload the page and .swf files? Do I need the actual Flash software? Thank you.

You can just add the html and upload the pages and .swf files. You dont need flash at all for this.

You wont be able to do anything with the .fla's without flash.

oh thats scary, appointed website manager and you need to ask such a basic HTML question!

You need the published .swf file to embed in the page and if I were you make sure you get the working .fla as well, mind you thats not to say you will have the font or images used, or any third party components the developer may have relied upon, plus you may have mac, developer pc or vice versa so the fonts may prove an issue in any case.

Thank you for your reply...greatly appreciated.

My question may have seemed very "basic" to you, but being that I have no idea how Flash works I wanted to be sure I had my facts straight. I do know the basics to HTML.
