Can someone please explain what Swish is/does? I imagine it is a software that allows one to create Flash-like graphics, etc. Does it work with Mac. Flash, or is it a completely separate software? Can movies for a website be creatd with Swish? Thank you.

swish is a flash for those without the wish/need/finances to learn the full product. Last time I used it (a good few years ago) it created bloated files in relation to the same thing done in flash as it keyframed every frame.

For quick and dirty small jobs its fine though

As has been said google it.

Swish does excel at text effects, and the later versions have dozens of built in preset effects which would have to be created manually in Flash.

But the point about large swf file sizes produced by Swish is valid.

I have used and played around with Swish .. and for any newbie it is slightly interesting ..

but it's text effects for the most part are unnecessary pretty crap and obvious.. you can spot them a mile off, and may be a case for crap style over content..

Just because flash is used does not mean you should not still be focusing on the content... is there really a need for swirling text to come tumbling in to the scene?

But to answer your question, it has a series of preset effects/transitions .. which are easily applied to mainly text, although can be used on images, they tend to increase the file size, not be so useful or smack of amatuer .. not worth paying for IMO ..
