OK, I have flash with all the appropriate transparency tags, embed and param, and it works in FF for windows, but not in FF for linux...any ideas? Flash is version 7 on linux, so it's not that it's not supported.

To the best of my knowledge the wmode paramater technique does not work on Mozilla on Linux as transparency in Flash is not supported in this environment.

unfortunately (or fortunately) Mozilla and Firefox DO support WMode. As I said, FF for Windows does this properly, Linux doesn't.
