Goodbye, at last, to Adobe Flash Player. It was a fun and sometimes fraught ride, but, it's now deprecated, and we can uninstall the software if you've still got it on your system

heh... In the past I've run across web sites that were totally, only, Flash.
Maybe they wondered then why they were so deep in the search results.
I wonder what they're thinking now?

I use MacOSX and I have not used Adobe Flash for anything for several years now, but have not been able to uninstall it. Adobe has made an uninstaller for both WIN and Mac now available for download from their instructions page. The Mac version is at https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html and for Windows they have one at https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html

Happy New Year indeed ;)

Thanks for those uninstallation links.

Actually, getting the software off the system is not as easy as it seems. I don't have it on my main machine, but I thought i'd go through the others and remove it.
The uninstallation has failed. Not sure why, but, i'll get there in the end.

You need to turn off all browsers to use their tool, their instructions are not 100% clear. Copy the instructions to a text file, then shut down your browsers to open and run the tool.

For those who still need Flash to browse old sites, the South African Revenue Service just released their own browser with Flash support built-in. Our Flash-less life lasted just four weeks :)

The South African Revenue Service has released this week its own custom web browser for the sole purpose of re-enabling Adobe Flash Player support, rather than port its existing website from using Flash to HTML-based web forms.

when the Flash time bomb went off monday morning last week in northern china, a rail system went down for up to 20 hours until a pirated version could be installed:

LOL.

Bunch of amateurs :)

edit: a good reason not to rely on third party technology (easier to say than do)
