Hi,
Were currently trying to make a demo tour for our website and i was wondering, what are the tools available to make download of the flash movie faster?

The only way for a flash file download to go faster is for the file to be smaller. To reduce file size, you can employ many different techniques.

Replace motion tweens with actionscripts. Ensure that all reused elements exist in only one place, as a "Symbol" in the Library. Avoid using the fancy-schmancy line effects (like the sketched line weights, splatters, etc.). Tweak your JPEG, sound settings and anything else in the "Publish settings" dialog that looks like it could affect file size.

From a social engineering point of view, use preloaders and have the movie load in sections while other sections are playing. (Load seconds 20-40 while it plays seconds 0-20.)

What else am I missing? There's got to be other tricks out there. :)

Thanks for the reply. I'll have them try that technique for the flash application. Have you ever heard of Flash optimizer software? The product is suppose to compressed the application 60-70% without compromising quality.

I don't know of it personally, but I can guarantee it only gets gains like that when the file is sloppily constructed in the first place.
