Flash Software

What do I need to change an existing flash movie?

Hi guys,

I am with a company that has a Flash website, and the people who built it are no longer around. I have some HTML experience, and so have been put forward to update it. I believe that I need some software to update it, is this right? Are there lots of different types of software? Is there one suitable for beginners?

If worst comes to worst, then I will just start a flash site from scratch. But again, I guess I need software?

Sorry if these are obvious questions!

Thanks in advance of any replies.

to edit flash , you need macromedia flash.

Unofrtunately, for anything but the most basic edits, you will also need the original files used to create the site during development. (n.b. these are different from the ones published on your site)

The files you need will have a .fla extension.

If it's been compiled it can be decompiled, just do a Google search for Flash Decompiler, choose the one that works best for you.

I haven't met one person who can legitimately read a decompiled Flash swf...Yeah you can decompile it all the way down to the last code, but it would take an expert to read it (it's not in the original form the coder wrote it in), much less make something out of it.

You would spend less time and money finding the original .FLA file or making a duplicate, but buying and using decompilers doesn't guarantee anything.
