Hi I am pretty desperate.

Nothing seems to work..

My flash does not work in Firefox 3, IE8 and Chrome - all the latest browsers!

I tried everything. Tried using the <object> and <embed>, and tried the SWF Object as many sites swear by it!

When I use the <object> and <embed> methods at least flash shows in IE6, 7, but with SWF Object the flash doesn't work anywhere at all!

Although the title of the post is about the SWF Object, I do not really care if it works with it, or without it - all I want is for the flash to work in all browsers...

Have been fighting with it literally for days, and spent MANY hours in frustration trying to make the damn flash movie work. At the point when the the screen is about to become a punch bag...

Please help....

Hello. Try this code, and make sure that you replace both the file name and widths in both places.

<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,29,0" width="170" height="300">
<param name="movie" value="REPLACE.swf">
<param name="wmode" value="transparent">
<param name="quality" value="high">
<embed src="REPLACE.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="170" height="300" wmode="transparent"></embed>

Don't post the entire library, just post the code for your SWFObject implementation and anonymize the URL's, like this

<script type="text/javascript" src="swfobject.js"</script>
<script type="text/javascript">
// Your code here

And we can probably help you. SWFObject does work and it's code that is accessible and validates.

Before you do that, a couple questions:

- Have you eliminated EVERYTHING on the page except the placeholder div and the JS? A validation error can break it.

- In FF, are you getting any errors in the Error Console?

- Tel us a little bit about the Flash - is it "self contained" or is it something that imports external data, like a slide show or video? This can be something completely different than how you're embedding it.
