Flash sound box - how tricky is this going to be?

I want to use Flash MX 2004 to create a small, simple box with both a Play and a Stop button, for insertion into HTML pages.

Upon page load, I want it to play an external sound file and, if possible, to mirror the sound levels visually in the form of a small LED-style graph or, even better, concentric circles emanating from the box.

I'm new to Flash but have got a good understanding of scripting and servers.

What I would like to know is, has this or something similar already been done elsewhere? Do reliable components exist which will make it easier for me? Where should I start looking? And are the Help files that come with Flash good enough for me to learn what I need or is there a book I should use instead?

Any and all advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Hey Donna :)

Your getting into a fairly complex part of flash if your not used to it but here is a superb tutorial on the sound object.

It runs through nearly everything you mention.

You can have flash respond to the volume of the sound but it's more involved again. Or you could get one of these and simply modify it.
