Hi,

Possibly an unusual request for info. We have a template where the source order has the embedded video in the middle. Our web guy wont be back for a little while and meanwhile we are stuck with the site loading slowly as the movie is preloaded. As our flash movies are 10MB+ too long passes before the browser moves onto complete the page. Is there any commaned that can be put into the embed HTML to stop preloading ?

This is what we have

<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="480" height="338" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="quality" value="high" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF" /><param name="flashVars" value="thumb=http://#*$!.yyy.com/users/randmouser/folders/Default/media/a06385c6-c367-46a5-a9d5-4d28f9c9b208/FirstFrame.jpg&amp;content=http://#*$!.yyy.com/randomusers/random/folders/Default/media/a06385c6-c367-46a5-a9d5-4d28f9c9b208/stuart chanpion 7.flv&amp;width=480&amp;height=338" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="scale" value="showall" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://#*$!.yyy.com/randemuser/randomuser/folders/Default/media/a06385c6-c367-46a5-a9d5-4d28f9c9b208/flvplayer.swf" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" height="338" src="http://#*$!.yyy.com/random/users/randomuser/folders/Default/media/a06385c6-c367-46a5-a9d5-4d28f9c9b208/flvplayer.swf" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="thumb=http://#*$!.yyy.com/radnomusers/random/folders/Default/media/a06385c6-c367-46a5-a9d5-4d28f9c9b208/FirstFrame.jpg&amp;content=http://#*$!.yyy.com/randomusers/#*$!/random/Default/media/a06385c6-c367-46a5-a9d5-4d28f9c9b208/stuart chanpion 7.flv&amp;width=480&amp;height=338" quality="high" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" scale="showall"></embed></object>

With flash it all has to load. What are you using the flash for?...10 MB seems like a bandwidth hog and a poor choice in design, most people won't stick around for that to load.

Thanks.

Its actually video streamed at 500kbs. The idea is people click on the video container and then it starts to play.

The idea is people click on the video container and then it starts to play.

This is likely something you need to code into the Flash object itself. When the user clicks on the video container, this should initiate the streaming, buffering, and playing. It shouldn't load the .flv immediately.
