There are a good number of websites out there that have great tutorials and How To articles on Flash - a search using your favourite search engine should point you in the right direction.
The Adobe Flash Developer Centre [adobe.com] is always a good point of reference too!
As I came from a Development Background , I could not visualise properly BCOS I was learning Flash with Action Script .
I read an advice from the author of BushFlash website, "Forget about action script, start designing with Flash".
Tutorials from Cartoon Smart and Lynda are a major plus if u want to do something major in flash.
