Is it possible to take a movie < offered by a stock photo site >...import it into Flash...turn it upside down...crop the overall dimensions...& export it as a Flash movie?

[no...this is not a trick question...I'm just beginning to learn Flash, that's all.]

The reason I want to use Flash is because w/ Flash...movies can be inserted into a web page without the interface associated w/ the movie player (i.e., the movie content itself, w/o the movie player/transport).

The reason I want to flip the movie & crop it skinnier is so that I can fit it into another site.

The formats offered by the stock photo website are QuickTime (I'm assuming .mov), mp4 & .wmv. Which one should I use; & is my method plausible?

Thanks,

Yes it is possible but largely depends on the version of flash you use.

If you have version MX 2004 or later (preferebaly flash 8 pro or later) then you can use flash video.

Simply import the movie file as flash video(if using windows get the .wmv if mac get the .mov) select progressive download, and the dimensions and frame rate etc, import and save to the same folder as your flash movie (swf).

The movie file will now be in the stage window, where you can transform it, tween it mask it and do anything you want with it!

Matt...

Thanks. Now, w/o sounding incredibly stupid...is 'Flash Video' a flash movie w/o audio (i.e., is it that simple)?

So...Flash Video will be an import option then? On the import parameters...I should use the existing movie dimensions; & then crop the size once imported?

Thanks again,
