Dynamic Photo Montage?

Hey...

The band recently released our debut CD; & we'd like to get up to speed on the video presentation end. We've noticed that many acts, here & there on the web...in lieu of having a full fledged music video...have a Flash movie (or some sort of video presentation) whereby still photos move around & display in a clever dynamic arrangement...fading in & shifting about...rolling & tumbling into place in an artsy layout, etc.

Is this primarily done in Flash; & if so...how?

Are there templates available?

Are there tutorials available?

Thanks,

mark4man
Flash MX Pro (v7.2)

BTW - Only used the program a few times.

I'd recommend that you try instead ( for now ) swish max ..get the trial version ..on the same site you'll find loads of tutorials ..and loads of band and gamer group flash files full of the kind of effects that you are talking about ..

swishmax is easier to learn than flash so you can get up to speed on what you want to do by using it

..afterwards the transition to using flash will be easy and you'll get less stuck trying to make it do things ( flash has more power ..but the tutorials at macromedia are not really aimed at doing the kind of thing you want to ) swish are less staid ..and there is a community who have explained much of how they did their various clips ..

Thanks, man!

BTW - Will it create movie files that can be played on the web? (meaning...is it a typical file format?)

it makes the same file types as flash .swf files ..it's just cheaper ( way ) ..has a trial version ..is easier to get going with ( but is less powerfull in what it can do ..for you it shoild do most of what you want ) ..and is enough like the flash interface that afterwards you can go onto using flash more easily ..

My son has both ..he says swishmax is much friendlier to use "warmer" was his word ..he uses it and flash to make animation cartoon work ..

to watch the finished movies on the web ..all you need is the flash player to be installed on the machine ..it is on 98% of all browsers ..

Man...I like it...I really like it! It's perfect for what I want to do. You add images, which become scenes; & you can add (literally dozens of) appear & disappear effects to each image...adjust timelines & effects so that subsequent images follow the preceding image into the layout window seamlessly...I love it...thanks very much for the tip!
