How does youtube load flv's so fast

Can I get mine that fast?

Is it the servers?
Quality settings on the video,if so, what are they?

Its a bit of both. Its hard to say what their settings are, but for sure there is distinct loss of quality on uploading there.

Probably in the region of 250-300kbps, and a preloader of minus 5% or so
They also limit the clip sizes which also helps keep the files smaller.

Their servers sit on multiple providers on a fat pipe so that aids delivery, and if you use 10gigabit routers then its no contest over a dsl or cable connection.

I've done a bit of research since my initial post. I'll be looking into a flash video streaming service, but so far they haven't gotten back to me.:(
