SWF Banner

cannot open

Hi, I'm a newbie to webdesign and HTML/Flash. I have just received an .SWF banner from a client and cannot open this file as it appears I do not have the appropriate software installed on my PC.
Could someone tell me what programs I need to download so I can open this banner?

macromedia flash player is what you need to play .swfs if you can see .swfs in internet explorer than add the file to a web page and view it through a browser.

I'm assuming they have sent it to you in a compressed format? it would be easier if you let us know the extention?

or perhaps as mentioned you just need to update you flash player..
