Making the terrain move

so that it appears as though character is moving,,,

Hello Everyone,

I am a bit new to Flash, and I am taking some classes in Flash at my school, while I am seeking to get a degree in IMD. I am working on an assignment now with some other students and I am in pickle. We are designing a video game with an overhead view fo our character. While I am sure this will not be the last question I have, I was wanting to ask if anyone nows how to make the terrain move using Actionscript so that it appears as though the character is moving. Our terrain is much larger than the stage.
