IE Handicaps Flash

Is there a work around?

I've been browsing this forum for an hour looking for a previously asked duplicate of this...if it exists, I'm sorry.

I'm sure you've all noticed how IE is now requiring web surfers to click on a flash 'unit' before they can access it. I understand the purpose for this, but I'm curious as of how I may work around this. I have seen a handfull of flash sites that aren't affected by this security issue, and I'd like to know how I might also work around it so that my websites will function as desired.

Any hints or clues?

Ah this issue interests me as well. I am reading up on it now.

Yes. This is where I went. The data he provides works perfectly. It may not be compatible with all computers, but I guess all us webmasters can thank Microsperm for being such jerks.

Try using SWFObject (aka FlashObject). It takes care of that problem and a few other issues...

Actually, the method I use processes JavaScript in the footer. This way, the flash will load normally. If JavaScript is enabled, then the javascript will run and activate the flash automatically.

Actually, one problem I'm encountering involves preloaders. Some flash content that uses a preloader will freeze when the page is reloaded...but only on some occasions. I'm working on a workaround, I'll keep you all posted.
