I'm looking for a FLA or SWF that shows a hierarchical diagram of nodes on a tree, as dots or icons connected by lines.

I want the nodes to be evenly and nicely spaced on a 2D page, with no overlapping, so this means it will involve some iterative actionscripting probably using standard physics equations so the nodes "repel" each other while being "attracted" to the parent node, with a "friction" that prevents nodes from flinging themselves around indefinitely. I'm imagining a dynamic system where the nodes eventually settle into a steady position where the forces of attraction and repulsion are balanced with inertia and friction.

I know I've seen something like that before, but I can't remember where.

Hey httpwebwitch,

Have you looked at FlashKit? You may be able to adapt some of the examples there...
