what's out there?

What are the most popular programs to create Flash content (e.g. interactive ads, fancy UIs, intros, animation)? Do you need to buy separate programs to create different content? Do I have to pick up Flash MX (for $500) or Free Hand ($400) from Macromedia?

dosn't offer actionscript but comes packaged with ready effects.

Swish absolutely! Use, love it. For every day Flash I don't think it can be beat.

Would be grateful for a quick FAQ on swish. I'm old school and do all the work in flash (with the exception of importing photos...) what are the Swich advantages?

I would say if you are old school Flash then you may not have a need for Swish.

Most people I know use it as an alternative to the fairly steep Flash learning curve for common text and graphic effects. IMO It is mainly for people don't use Flash at all.

There is also Wildform, which allows you to quickly and easily create complex text effects. It exports it as an .swf that you can import to your main flash movie, or use as is.

Has anyone been to th MM exchange recently? I think Jason K was designing some components for Flash. I haven't been since the site redesign and they keep asking for V6 plugin which I can't be bothered installing.
