FLASH: actionscript help; movieclip animation

movieclip animation based on location of another movieclip

I want to have a looping movie clip, that displays essentially button moving horizontally. The movieclip loops, so the buttons moving appear seemless.

PROBLEM: As the movieclip is playing the horizontal animation, I want a slider mc moving with it, but to control the placement of the movieclip.

e.g. The clip will self-run, but if the user clicks on the slider MC and moves it to the left and right, they can cycle through the movieclip, kinda like a fast forward and rewind button.

Confusing to Explain. Any Ideas Anyone of you geniuses?
