Mozilla has just started compiling examples of how the web browser field is uneven, especially for independent browsers, such as Firefox.

There are people using browsers who do not know what a browser is. I've met some and needed to back away because they have no idea of what they are doing with the internet and it could not be explained to them in any terms they understand. One who finally left AOL behind called Google her 'carrier'. As in,"I cancelled AOL and now Google is my carrier." I believe the browser field might be uneven because people don't know what it is. Maybe splash ads might get some interest?

As long as it gets on the net most folks don't even care how it is done. For the most part it is not taught at school. In fact, big tech might prefer it that way, to lock in "subscribers" for now and the future (a return to terminals and big iron/datacenters).
