From 15 down to 8 ... worse, sticky search locations I rarely use (Bing guy, don't use amazon wikipedia, google reddit twitter facebook or youtube as "search with" options).

Managed to kill g, w, a, t but still stuck with r, f and y.

Any hints to kill those off from the address bar dropdown?

been to newtabpage.pinned, urlbar (everything) and no real joy.

Wouldn't be so bad except for the reduction in lines presented via dropdown.

Note, I don't use new tab at all so if killing that whole section will solve it is okay by me.

Note2: I run high contrast, accessibility mode. Perhaps there's something on screen I am not seeing? If so I'll turn it off temp to fix things.

Driving me nuts at the moment.

This is one of those things I'd really like to wash my hands over!

Once again mate - now you know why I don't update things.

[Added] FF have now introduced Picture in Picture according to an email I received this morning.

Web tutorials, cooking demos, or news live-streams — with Firefox's latest feature, you can pop any video out of your computer browser window and watch while you do other things, in the browser or across different applications and even workspaces.
[...]
Picture-in-Picture mode is useful for any time you want to multitask with videos.

Thanks folks for the reply... reminded me to post my solution!

newtabpage.pinned set to false

You can, of course, edit the related string of se urls, but once the active is set to false the beast simply disappears. (Does not affect your options selected SE of choice, that's separate).

AND a complete RESTART of the computer. Simply closing the browser and RESTARTING did not do the job. Don't know why ... but I am back to normal, though missing the additional entries (now 6, was 15). I suspect this is all about the small screen these days.
