I find this report very strange, and whether it has any merit will come to light in due course, i'm sure.

The Mozilla Foundation has begun an investigation after tech juggernaut Dell appeared to be asking customers to pay £16.25 ($27) to install its free web browser Firefox on newly purchased Dell kit.Report: Dell Appears to Charge $27 To Install Firefox On Its PCs [theregister.co.uk]

Doesn't surprise me. I work in an IT and telecoms company. If a customer came to us and said "please install XYZ for me", we'd charge for the time of the technician involved who actually has to do the job for the customer --- even if the XYZ was free software. Nothing unusual in this.

£16.25 to install a browser? Takes, what, three minutes? I'm in the wrong line of work.

Typically companies charge "per hour or part thereof". I agree, probably took 2 minutes, but this is how it works...
