Closure of tab in FF

Is it not supposed to close SESSION

Just found it after working with COOKIES that are supposed to expire at the end of session.

I wanted to do a test and closed the tab.
This do not close the session because when I open another tab, I am still an identified user and not a guest.

Same applied for with the cookie of this forum in fact.

1/ Can I get a confirmation of this?
2/ Why not closing the SESSION when tab is closed? Unless you know it and make sure to close FF, anyone could have come to my PC, open another tab from FF and log as ME in all website I have been!

If you are using tabs, it is considered as one browser instance. If the session was dropped across tabs then navigating through a site by opening several links in new tabs would be impossible.

The security aspect is a non-issue as if the person has access to your browser under the same profile as you, then they have access to much more than an open session: they can use the autofill values for all your saved passwords etc. as well as browser your cached history.
