Is it possible to launch website when pressing a single key? For example, i want to assign "G" key for google page and when pressing the key it will open the google page in a new foreground tab. I know it is possible to assign key combination for launching sites with some firefox addons but i couldn't find a solution to do this when pressing single key.

Thanks!

It can't be done with a single key. Otherwise every time you typed the letter G your browser would open.

I think he's asking about shortcuts within one application, not system-wide.

O' course that still leaves the problem of what happens if you're filling out an online form and you come to a word containing the letter g... and that's why we have control keys.

If i fill web forms it will type g and not open site url. Firefox have integrated a similar shortcut called "web search" which opens google page in the same tab. You can see it with Durango Keyconfig addon. The default shortcut is ctrl+k i think but it can be changed to a single key. But as i said it opens google page in the same tab and also i want to be able to add other sites.

What goes around comes around - I thought that hot keys went out of fashion around 1990

Back in the bad old good old days we would only program the function keys.
