I made Chrome my primary browser because twitter.com does not work with FF 8.0.1 -- it keeps giving "This profile does not exist" no matter whose profile I check. I still use FF when I need to use some add-on.

Twitter works fine for me in FF 8.0.1

Try clearing out all your twitter cookies and/or disabling any FF twitter add-ons like Power Twitter if you use them.

Clearing my cache and cookies didn't work. Could be some conflicting add-on but I have none that are Twitter-specific.

I would stop browsing rather than use the chrome privacy-trap, especially where there is such sensitive (personal) data involved.

Have you got twitter listed in a FF blocklist?

Have you tried Opera?
