problem with firefox - false error msg when using shortcuts

I recently switched from regular mozilla to firefox,
now whenever i use a shortcut to a webpage or the run command to go to a webpage an error box pops up telling me that it can't find it, but firefox still opens the page (just windows can't find it)

A desktop type shortcut? If you type the URL in directly you can get to the page?

I wonder if the dektop URL is formatted in some special way for IE that causes Firefox to throw an error but still open the page?

Internet explorer doesn't always seem keen on letting other apps use its shortcuts! The way I fixed this problem on a win98 machine was in Control panel>> Folder options >> File types

For 'URL:Hypertext transfer protocol', untick 'use DDE'.

Hopefully this fixes your problem. This should work for favourites, although there's an outside chance you may have to repeat the steps for other types of IE shortcut you may have.
