Firefox 3.1's javascript is up to 28% faster than Chrome:

plus extensions,
plus SVG,
etc.

I've been using the 3.1 beta-pre for almost a week now and can definitely feel the boost.
Beta final is scheduled for September 30th.

In 3.1 did they change the location/address bar so you can easily turn off the "feature" that dumps bookmarks etc in the drop down?

Since 3.0.1 was a security "patch" release, I'm looking forward to 3.1 as the first major "clean-up" of the 3.x family.

> turn off the "feature"
In about:config, set browser.urlbar.maxRichResults to zero, then restart the browser or open a new browser window.

To get rid of "awesome bar" install OldBar extension
which makes it just like pre 3.0 with a few tweaks.
Then optionally go into about:config and enable
browser.urlbar.matchOnlyTyped (true)
