Firefox 2 - File Upload locks file on local file system

Need to restart FF to free the lock?!

Back to FF2 (2.0.0.16) for a mo...

I'm using my own CMS-like tool to update online content, which involves uploading images. However, FF seems to permanently lock the file (on the local file system/network), even though it has been successfully uploaded?

For instance, if I upload an image and then later need to edit the same image locally and upload it again I can't! Because it seems FF has locked it?! Closing and restarting FF resolves the issue.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

SOLVED (At least I now know what causes it...)

There appears to be a problem with the LiveHTTPHeaders v0.14 Browser Add-on. Disable this Add-on and the file no longer remains locked.

I hope you'll report that problem to the developers -- Live HTTP Headers is one of my favorite/critical debugging tools.

It appears to have already been logged as a bug on mozdev (last month - 11 June 2008).
- [mozdev.org...]

Although logged as a recent issue effecting FF3, it is listed as a problematic extension on mozillaZine [kb.mozillazine.org] and if you follow the link to bugzilla the comments date back to 2003 (erm... 5 years ago!)?!
- [bugzilla.mozilla.org...]

There is, however, (what appears to be) a relatively simply code fix provided.

Although reading down the mozdev thread (first link above), this may actually cause more problems!?
