Google Browser Sync To Be Discontinued [googlesystem.blogspot.com]

Google Browser Sync is a Firefox extension that synchronizes your bookmarks, web history, browser sessions and passwords across multiple computers by temporarily saving them to Google's servers. Unfortunately, this was the project of a small team at Google and it's no longer maintained. The extension won't be updated for Firefox 3 and the service will only be available until the end of 2008.

I found that a useful extension. Sad to see it go. It's odd that they dropped this just as Opera 9.5 built it in to the browser.

It's a bit of a bugger there, I loved the fact I kept my work, home and laptop all in sync.

I see there is something called "Weave" on Mozillas Lab that appears to do the same, gonna give that a go.

I assume this is because (IIRC) in Firefox 3 the bookmarks are stored in a sqlite database and not a HTML file as before - so the extension would need a complete rewrite, not just an update.
