2.0.0.6 crashing on opening new window

Since I have updated Firefox to the latest version, 2.0.0.6, it crashes every couple of days or so, which it never did before on my Windows XP SP2 computer.

I seem to find myself having Firefox open, and wanting to open a new browser window by clicking the Quick Launch shortcut. It doesn't open, and when I try again, it crashes.

Do others experience the same problem?

Sorry, but no. Just to throw something out, have you tried disabling all extensions and seeing what happens? It could be a third-party add-on that's messing everything up.

That said, with the updates to Thunderbird 2.0.0.6, I have had to abandon it entirely because of continual crashes (actually started a couple of minor versions earlier).

For all the MS bashing that goes on, I've never found the Mozilla products very stable, which is unfortunate because in terms of functionality and interface, I think they're so much better than the MS equivalents.

After uninstalling, reinstalling, creating new profiles, cleaning everything out and still having crashes every 5-10 minutes while reading email, I've finally had to throw in the towel and just give up on Thunderbird. Not so tragic with Thunderbird, but I sure hope Firefox stops crashing on you. I couldn't stand to go without all those extensions.

I had to abandon FF2.0.0.3 because of continual crashes. Even with a clean install and no extensions. Since 2.0.0.4 it seems to have been fine. I guess FF is buggy on certain machines?

Thanks, ergophobe. I removed the extensions I don't use, and updated the remaining ones. If I still get a crash, I'll try disabling them all.

I remember having had annoying crashes after updating from the old 1.0 versions, but reinstalling did solve that. Firefox always worked without crashing since 1.5 for me.

Good luck! I hate my current email client, but I just could not stand the crashes

By the way, I suddenly cannot use contractions here because every time I type an apostrophe or a slash, FF thinks I want to search. What kind of BS bug is that?
