It will load pages with a delay (even busy-icon on the tabbar stops). Or if I use [Ctrl]+B to open the bookmarks-sidebar, it will do so with a delay of one or two seconds, sometimes even longer.
I have no other copy of mozilla-based-browser running when this happens, and this is my configuration:
Windows 2000
Firefox 1
Extensions: Adblock, Web Developer, Weatherfox, Prefbar, Tabbrowser Extension, BugMeNot, Stop-Or-Reload-Button
Since the delays are happening on just about any event (like opening a new tab, opening the sidebar, clicking a link, you name it), I suspect a computer-related problem, some weird things going on with memory and stuff. But, then again, it is also happening on my other machine which runs Windows XP Home.
My copy of Mozilla (1.7.3) runs perfectly fine.
Any ideas?
After de-installing Prefbar though, the browser seems to be back to normal.
I now will re-install the Tabbrowser and Web Developer extensions and see what happens, I'll report my findings later.
Anyone else found a similar problem with the Prefbar? I sure am going to miss this little gem.
I replaced the tabbrowser extension with the tabbrowser preferences extension, as this contains all I need. My test did not reveal any problem with the tabbrowser extension, but I thought I add it here anyways.
I did no further research so far as if the preferences toolbar extension itself was the problem or the settings I made. Mozilla 1.7.3 runs smooth with it. I just wish my one-click access to activation/deactivation of javascript, cookies, flash and stuff back. Seems I need to find another extension for this, or write one myself *shudder*.
But if you would rather still use the Gecko rendered core in a browser you really need to try this one it is in beta transision but up to date there are no fatalities (crashes or berserk failures): When you click on the link it is an instant exe to your desktop which will show you were it is, you can put it in another directory if you like.
