Firefox : multi version installs

dummies guide required

I would like to know
a: is it possible to run multi versions
b: if so how? (and I mean a step by step "dummies guide to..")

Reason: would like to keep 0.9.1 (I know everyone updates quickly) but there are developer differences between the two and I would like to run them both, if only for a short while

requirements:
1. keep original profile and tools/extensions with 0.9.1 because I want to keep using it meantime

2. be able to have (differing?) tools and functionality with V1.0 too so I can migrate my surfing habits along with my dev habits ;)

Am I asking the impossible.. (if the answer to the first question is no then I am)

On Windows, Mac or Linux? I know how to do it on Linux, but that might not be much help. ;)

Using Linux you can have many versions installed.
With Windows, I used to have more than one version with the zip download provided.
I have the last firefox version (exe install)which has a profile in the folder application data/mozilla/firefox and a firebird version (zip) which has a profile in the folder application data/phoenix.
Both work fine.

Hey SuzyUK,

AFAIK it's just a matter of installing version 1.0 into a different folder on your hard drive. You may need to define different profiles one each to use them concurrently though...

I installed to a different folder and it mucked up my default profile disabling all the extensions so I uninstalled it and then back in v0.9.1 the extensions still wouldn't work so I manually edited the chrome and extensions rdf files and got them re-enabled (couldn't seem to do it through tools>extensions)

Then copied the profile to to another name so V1.0 wouldn't disable them again then re-installed v1.0 to a seperate folder again ~ it's now fine ;)

Because, using some advice found on another here, I had already edited the max versions of the extensions in the RDF files while I was re-enabling them it works perfectly fine this time from the default profile
