I just started using the Firefox Web Developer Toolbar, and am wondering what exactly is "table depth"? Are they just talking about nested tables? If so, the outlines they show on the screen don't look like it.

Looks to me like it IS a report on nested tables. When it's activated, you get a small box with depth="some number" in various areas of the page -- and that number tells you how deeply nested that part of the page is. 1 seems to mean "nested once" and so on.
