Firefox: How do I add buttons for new tab and new page?

Can't remember how I did it the last time

I had two little buttons, one for opening a new tab and one for opening a new window. These were just next to the home button. After a new installation of Windows I want to set that back up but can't remember how I did it the first time. Can anybody help? (I've been to the addons page at Firefox and got several other features but not this one).

On a different note when I right click a tab the last option - after "Close Tab" is "Lock Tab". Anyone knows what that does and how I can get rid of it?

right click on the upper bar then customize, then drag and drop

If you right click on the top tool bar and then click customize you should get a pop up with your icons you desire. You can slide them into position.
