hi, would appreciate some help.
I can't seem to view flash on some sites after installing firefox 1.5
Don't know what I did wrong or if I need to install an extension. There's a greyed out quicktime logo with a question mark over it and the images - just don't show up.. What's happening - Anyone can help me here?

Hi ashanti and welcome to the forums!

It is possible that your plugins need to be reinstalled - you can get them directly from the Macromedia (for Flash) and Apple (for QuickTime) sites.

Did you install over the top of an earlier version such as 1.07, or did you simply upgrade manually or automatically from 1.5?

There are repetitive fatal errors with QuickTime on Mozilla on Windows (sorry, no hard info on FireFox). Apple know about it (informed via Microsoft) and cannot be bothered to fix it.

Hi encyclo

Thanks for the reply. (sorry for the screenshot - must have missed that bit in the forum rules)

Well actually this problem had already occured in ff 1.0.7 and I just did an upgrade to 1.5 without uninstalling the plugins first. Should I do that - uninstal all the plugins and reinstall them?

If yes, how do I uninstall the plugins - do I just drag them from the firefox/plugins folder into the trash?

My apologies for my ignorance in this subject, as I am fairly new to PCs and Firefox as I use Safari on my Mac mostly.

Cheers :)

1) Flash problem.
2) Greyed-out Quicktime icon.

This points to Quicktime being set as the handler for flash. Maybe you can go into the Quicktime configuration in Control Panel, and tell it not to try to handle Flash ( uncheck File types > Miscellaneous file formats > Flash media, and Browser > MIME Settings > Miscellaneous file formats > Flash media )

Then re-install Flashplayer if it still doesn't work.
