Hi All,

This is the first time Ive struck this problem and I cant seem to figure it out.

I've built a site locally testing in IE and firefox and just recently uploaded to a live server for public view. It worked fine while I uploaded and set it up etc. but now when trying to access it in IE I get a "Cannot Find Page" error which is rubbish, because its totally useable in Firefox. Obviously the site is there in its entirety but for some reason IE cannot view it. Of course Ive mucked around with security settings etc. to see if that makes any changes but still no results. Also, since it was tested locally using predominantly IE theres no question whether it works in it.

Furthermore, its not just certain files in particular, I cannot access even the simplest of html file.. simply nothing works whatsoever.

Any ideas?

Very strange. Sometimes if IE's cache is very full, bizarre things happen. Try clearing all your "Temporary Internet Files" and see if that helps at all.

Try IE on a different computer.

Thanks for your replies, but it was another user (on another pc) that found the fault and the cache doesnt seem to be the problem.

If its another user, it's possible that proxy settings are different for IE compared to Firefox (or whatever). Also, a server in the chain may be faulty. You can force a new page to be delivered in IE using shift-F5 or Ctrl-F5 (I can't remember which). A simple F5 in IE is useless to clear this problem.

Is it the whole site or secure pages?

I have come across this problem when IE6 is asked to display secure pages ie using HTTPS. Funnily enough it seems to affect only a small proportion of IE6 users?

If it is happening for secure pages you can change security settings in IE to cure the problem.

You need to ensure you are using SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0 and PCT 1.0 BUT NOT TLS 1.0

This is done via Tools - Internet Options - Advanced.

Don't forget to clear the cache and you can also clear the SSL State via the Content Tab.

If it is the whole site then I am clueless and would be interested to hear the answer.

Good luck.
