Hello,

My Facebook pages have had absolutely zero organic reach for external links for weeks. Even if I share any external link to 4-500 thousand people, only 1-2 people click on it and that's it. I also tried to advertise, but no one clicked on that either, while thousands of people clicked on my shares before that.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Unfortunately, Facebook pages don't have the visibility they used to.

I assume you have a good number of Page followers, as that can make a difference.

I share articles with about 1 million people. The online number used to be about 500-1500 on my website, now it's 5-10. These people probably don't even come from Facebook, but from search engines. I explain in vain to support, they say my reach might be a bit lower. I sent them the facebook stats which already show a 98% drop in reach. The main problem is that they put all sorts of ignorant people as support and just send template replies. It's getting to the point where I'm getting nervous. Anyway, all my friends have their pages running fine as they are, so it's even harder for them to find the error, as they are unique...

I am facing the same issue .... my online users used to be between 150 - 400 , but now from 2-10 ?
It doesn't make any sense .... to manage 8 Million pages of fans, and when you share a post your online users hardly reaches 5-6.

Facebook is killing Fanpages business model this way and no one will invest in creating pages any more.

I wrote to facebook support three times, this is the first time they admitted they know about it, so it's a bug

I wonder if this is one of the side effects of their mass layoffs and shuffling employees to different tasks and departments. :( They had removed over 11,000 employees last fall and started another round of layoffs in Feb: [webmasterworld.com...]

This is so annoying : back to 5-8 online users no more !

Every day it starts off slowly, and then it gets whacked again. I've had 300 online visitors and in 5 minutes it's down to 10. I simply have no idea what they are doing there.

I spoke to Facebook again today and again they said they would reply within 48 hours. I am starting to give up on the whole thing.
I had 500-1000 likes on most of my posts, now I have 10-20...

This is the second time today that this typical standard response has been written. It is pre-written for them and sent:

Thank you for your response,

I understand that you need help with the issue of page reach. For this information, I would like to present the following:

There are many factors that affect reach, including how people are engaging with your Page's content, how people have engaged with similar types of content in the past, the quality of the content and other factors such as time of day and whether people are on Facebook on their mobile phone or computer. It's normal for reach to change based on these factors.

There are two main reasons.

The first reason involves a simple fact: More and more content is being created and shared every day. You’ve probably felt this change yourself. Just a few years ago, sharing important moments and experiences, articles you’ve read, and photos and videos of your loved ones was a relatively labor-intensive process. Today, thanks to devices like smartphones, many people can share this content with just a few swipes of the finger or taps of a button.

There is now far more content being made than there is time to absorb it. On average, there are 1,500 stories that could appear in a person’s News Feed each time they log onto Facebook. For people with lots of friends and Page likes, as many as 15,000 potential stories could appear any time they log on.

Please do not worry currently most of the Pages are going through the updates because of this some Page may be facing this type of issue about the reach.

You need to check your external links because it could be possible people are giving negative reviews regarding the external links.

Hope the information I provide has been helpful to you, hope you will have an adjustment plan in your business and advertising plan to minimize the impact of the problem on your business.

If you have any other requests or questions, you can initiate a new support session at facebook.com/business/help to get help as soon as possible. You will soon receive an automated survey about the support service we have provided. I would like to summarize the support session on the issue: page reach and I have also shared with you the information related to this issue. I will close the support session after this email.

Once again Thank you for contacting Meta Support Pro. I wish you a smooth business and don't forget to stay healthy during this pandemic.

Best regards,

Lee

At the end, they wrote that they were closing the case because everything was fine...

I am involved in Pets related pages, all of my pages are about dogs and animals.

One of the most known content providers is <snip> ( they provide high quality content )
They used to get 30k-100k likes per post. But now 30-100 likes per post only.

They are suffering from the same issue. and many other well know pages ( Operating from the USA ) and they do have offices in USA are now suffering from same critical drop in the reach, other pages stopped posting since 16th April.
<snip>

But this page is working fine : ( Why ? ) even they provide same circulating type of content :
<snip>

From my experience over the Last few years we have to keep posting as usual, and for sure things will get back to work normal again.

2013 - 2017 : were golden days Online : 1500 - 4500
2017 - 2018 : critical drop in reach : but online were around 50-80
2019 - 2022 : back to golden days : 1500 - 4500
2023 - : started with 100 - 300 online
2023 - March : Very critical drop in reach never experienced before online : 5-10

The question now is : How long it will last before back to golden days again ?

One: Golden days will never return. Just a fact of web-life. The web-o-sphere is increasing daily and MOST of that increase is young folks who aren't fully baked and may not even have interest in what you/we created and cast upon the internet.

Two: Too many hands stuck in the pie, each clawing for a nickle or dime. Middle siders (that's quite a bit of FB/Meta in the first place) kind of get in the way.

Three: Folks have other things on their minds these days: Inflation, recession, depression (the kind humans feel), aggression (the kind countries and the world feels) and secession (the kind where humans turn their back on the crazy stuff and put their own house back in order).

Four: the obvious.... If you signed a contract with FB/Meta to supply you with x referrals per a specified period at the expressed fee of free, and they failed to deliver, you should contact your high-priced attorney and sue those double dealing... ER ... I think you get my point.

Using FB as a point/referral to one's website has ALWAYS been vaporware IMHO.

YMMV

What I don't understand is why only a few pages were affected and they got a drastic reduction in reach, instead of all pages being affected and everyone's reach being reduced a little bit.It is absolute not fair...

Did you write to them here? [facebook.com...]

I every 3. day write them without any correct answer.

Okay, fewer and fewer young people are interested in the articles, but this is not the issue here, it is about the fact that some Facebook pages have been turned off completely, as if they had been deleted. The other Facebook pages work perfectly. If I pay for advertising, no one sees it either. like there's something wrong with them...

And I also don't understand why I haven't read elsewhere about the decline in facevook reach. I cannot find any forum, blog or news about it. It's a huge problem, they are ruining businesses...

If the site is not affected 100% negative then one needs to back off and take another look at the penalized pages to TRUTHFULLY see what FB doesn't like/support/share regarding THOSE SPECIFIC PAGES.

Also look at it as might an AI algo ... might not be the total article, but MIGHT be a collection of words in a specific order that suggests something different...

We are entering a new version of the web where everything posted is going to come under microscopes UNDEFINED to the rest of us.

That said: If you've only lost on a few pages, rejoice in the pages that continue to perform!

Long and short: things change and some of that change we can't control or correct.

Ever.

Take a breath. Leave off posting every 3 days to FB on this ... wait until a more opportune time ... if nothing else a continued rant will be ignored and the only result is nothing getting done and perhaps consuming a packet of Tums.

last few days I am getting more likes on posts ( 70-250 ) likes , rather than 1-10
But still no clicks .. online users in analytics hardly can reach 30

I have made a lot of experiments :
1- Posting on Each page from its Own profile
2- Posting from Mobile
3- posting from Another admin account.

Still same results : online users could reach 25-30 .... then drop again below 10

I tried these things, I didn't find any difference. In fact, I tried to share the article first into a group and from there into the page, but maybe even worse.
Anyway, as I'm in constant correspondence with them, If I understand well, I think they now know from the last letter that they have a problem.

This is an excerpt from the Facebook letter:

I understand that you are contacting to us regarding your issues of Ad Delivery. I with this issue, I would like to present the following:

Recently, there are many advertisers who are facing this issue. This is a temporary error from the system. However, do not need to worry as our technicians are working very hard to fix this issue. The issue will be resolved and you should see your delivery go back to normal soon. Thank you so much for your kind understanding.

I hope the information I have provided has been helpful to you, Hope you will have an adjustment plan in your business and advertising plan to minimize the impact of the problem on your business.

I had 300 people on one of my websites yesterday for an article, it took about 2 hours. I started to think it was fixed, but unfortunately not. As of today, no one is looking at it, and no one is clicking on any of the other posts. I can't believe this bug has been going on for 1 month and they can't fix it...

Other than wait.

Reach is fixed. Great news! On the other hand, is all the lost organics been restored as well?

I did not do anything.
It was as if a button had been pressed. But it is interesting that today is May 1, so the problem lasted exactly 1 month. It's like a penalty for a mistake...
The problem with my other website started later, I expect it will be fixed later.
