Facebook has upped the ante with its rich format mobile ads for Android and iOS by launching Canvas, world-wide today.

We built Canvas—a new post-click, full-screen, immersive mobile ad experience on Facebook that loads nearly instantaneously—to solve this problem. Canvas was created with input from the creative community at every step and is designed to help businesses tell stories and show products on mobile devices in a beautiful way. Canvas is available to advertisers around the world starting today. Facebook Launches Canvas Ads For Mobile [facebook.com]

I really want an immersive mobile ad experience

... is what no Facebook user has ever said. It might be exciting for investors but users? Not so much.

*kill it* <--- what a Facebook user is much more likely to say, or mumble, or think as he/she shakes his/her head.

No-one is going to want to see this in their newsfeed.

I think the idea is that the ads offer more by being informational.

Time will tell.

What the product wants is trumped by what the paying customers want.
